Has anyone found a way to update the toolbar for the sp-tinymce-editor in a custom Service Portal widget?

Has anyone found a way to update the toolbar for the sp-tinymce-editor in a custom Service Portal widget?  I have spent time updating the system properties the decide this for the platform UI but they appear to have no impact on it.  I have also spent time going over the code for it and it does not look like there is a way to pass in the toolbar options to use so I was hoping someone here figured it out.

So it looks like in New York a directive was added for part of Innovation Management that allows you to do this, so I'm just going to use that.

The Directive is cf-tiny-mce for those interested.
