Have variable in catalog item and not able to get it in the variable section on the request item (RITM)

Help needed. I have a variable defined in catalog item as a reference (see picture below) when I select it and submit the catalog item the variable filed is blank. Not sure what I am doing wrong or what I need to do to fix the problem so that I am able to get it display in the RITM.

Is there any UI script acting on that field? If yes, Make sure to set the Clear the Variable Value to false. If you want to work it only when submitting the request, you can make the UI policy to work only on Catalog Items.
