Hello ServiceNow Community, My Personal Developer Instance (PDI) has been showing Offline status, a

Instance details:

  • Instance ID: dev436374

  • Instance URL: https://dev436374.service-now.com

  • Current release: Australia Patch 3

  • Issue: Instance status remains Offline.

  • Manage My Instance: The Actions menu does not show a Wake Instance or Start Instance option.

  • Refresh: I have tried refreshing the instance status, but it remains Offline.

I checked the instance history. It shows a successful upgrade to Australia Patch 3 on August 5, 2026, and two failed attempts to upgrade to Australia Patch 2 on July 15, 2026.

I have an important Banking IT Service Management (ITSM) project on this instance, including Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Catalog, SLA configurations, Business Rules, Client Scripts, and reports.

I do not want to release or reset my instance because I want to preserve my existing project work.

Could anyone please help me with the following questions?

  1. Why is my PDI showing Offline?

  2. How can I wake up or restart the instance when no Wake Instance option is available?

  3. Is this related to maintenance or a server-side issue?

  4. Is there a safe way to restore my existing instance without losing my configurations and project data?

Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi @amitkinholk

This is a widespread issue, there are numerous threads about it, here's one:

https://www.servicenow.com/community/developer-forum/my-developer-instance-is-offline/m-p/3615327

Q: Why is my PDI showing Offline?

A: ServiceNow is having significant issues with its PDI infrastructure. This has been going on for several weeks now.

Q: How can I wake up or restart the instance when no Wake Instance option is available?

A: You can't. All you can do is either wait or release your instance and take a new one (losing any data you currently have).

Q: Is this related to maintenance or a server-side issue?

A: Yes it's widespread "maintenance" and/or related issues on the server side.,

Q: Is there a safe way to restore my existing instance without losing my configurations and project data?

A: No. If you want to keep your configs and data, there's nothing you can do except wait.

Some PDIs may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance.

If your PDI is currently offline, you can:

Wait for maintenance to complete and your instance to become available again. Release your current instance and request a new one. Please note that releasing your instance will permanently delete all data and work stored on it.

As a reminder, PDIs are unsupported development resources and do not have an availability, support, or uptime SLA. We strongly recommend regularly backing up any work you don’t want to

lose.

@Dr Atul - LNG - what they called "scheduled maintenance" has been going for more than two weeks now. It doesn't add up to me. There's more to it than that, surely?
