One of the way to import xml within servicenow is :

1. open the module that you would like to import (exemple users, incident, etc...)

2. Right click on the column like the screenshot below and click on the import xml (make sure that you have the requiered role to be able to import files into servicenow)

If you are getting troubles to import the update set, it should display you what is wrong with the update set, depending on the error logs, you can either accept or skip the update.

To export a single record as XML data:

1. Login as an admin user.
2. Sign in to the instance that contains the source data.
3. Navigate to the record you want to export.
4. Right-click the form header and select Export > XML (This record).

Please follow the below steps to import xml file to Servicenow:

1. Navigate to System Update Sets > Retrieved Update Sets.
2. Click the link Import Update Set from XML

1. Click Choose File and select an XML file.
2. Click Upload.
