How do I export only selected rows?

I have a requirement to only export selected rows in a list.   Someone had a similar question and was pointed to the article below but it's for a different issue where the ability is absent on related lists at the bottom of records displayed in the form view.

Filtering out items is not an option.     What's the best way to accomplish this?

why is filtering not an option? how many rows are you talking? what is the purpose ?
