How to backup and recover the application in PDI ?

Hi ,

I want to backup my application in PDI so that if my instance is recycled after some inactivity period , I can import this app to a new PDI. What I have achieved is exporting the application in xml format , following section

Publish update sets regularly – a PDI best practice

The next step will be importing this xml file to my PDI ,but till now I did not find the solution. My expectation is both the data and structure can be imported to PDI. Looks like in studio we don't have import option...

    Thanks in advance.

This can be achieved using integration with github. You will be able to restore your code. Let me know in case of any issues.

Hi all,

Let me briefly introduce the step to backup as well as recover. The idea is to link the serviceNow app to source control system , like GitHub. It means we backup our app in GitHub. And later when we need recover our system , we can import it from GitHub.

      1. Go into your Studio ,  choose 'Source Control' and then 'Link to source control'. Just provide the GitHub repository url (Note it is repository link , not your GitHub homepage link)  , username and password.  When the process is done , check your GitHub repository. There should be relative files generated in your repo.  That's how we link.

     2. Once we link the app to source control system, we can import the app from GitHub to serviceNow Studio.

Go into your studio , choose 'File' and then 'Import from source control' , fill in the GitHub repository url , username and password , finally click import button. That's it.

Hope this helpful.  I also suggest serviceNow can add this part to training document so that people can easily manage the backup topic.

He'ya all!

Help me please I lost some very important documents and photos from my USB drive. I try everything. Are there are any free tools to restore the data? Which do you use? In different forums, they advise to apply to specialized file recovery services but I see that they are not free and cost money. I mean services like this one which can recover files from USB drive https://www.diskinternals.com/uneraser/the-best-solution-for-usb-flash-drive-repair/ Seem like they can solve my problem but before paying them I would like to ask for your experience and opinions. Thank you!
