How to calculate the time spent by a change request in each state of the state ?

Hi All,

As mentioned in the question I need to calculate the time spent by a change request in each state of the state. 

For example the state are New , Assess , Validate and so on . I need to calculate the time for how long the change request was in the New state. this time is to be stored in different fields for each state.

How can this be achieved?

Thanks for the response, I created the metric definition as stated by you. But I'm facing one issue that two of the states is showing the backend value - the integer value as (-2) and (-6) instead of the state display name. How to resolve this issue?

Are they custom States or out of box?

Time cards are used to record the time worked on a task by a task assignee.

The time card management feature works with the Task table to record time worked on Projects, Incidents, Problems, and Change Requests.
