Hi Chankya,

As you know, MID Servers are used to integrate with system which are in your clients premises.

Since ServiceNow is on Cloud, you need a MID Server installed on one of you client's server to integrate servicenow with any of those systems.

So you need to a Server in your client network, where you can host the mid Server.

Below is the minimum requirement for the Windows Server or Linux server where you will install the MID Server. You will need to ask your client for a VM with below configurations.

MID Server supported systems

The following systems support the MID Server.

  • Windows server: To discover Windows-based servers, run Service Mapping patterns, or execute Orchestration commands on Windows devices, the MID Server must be installed on a Windows server. The MID Server supports all Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 editions, virtual machines, and 64-bit systems.
Note: .NET Framework version 3.5, 4.0, or 4.5 is required for Service Mappingsupport and for Windows pattern-based discovery.

  • Linux: The MID Server was tested on Linux Red Hat 6, Ubuntu 12, and CentOS 6. Linux MID Servers support virtual machines and 64-bit systems. On 64-bit Linux systems, you must install the 32-bit GNU C library (glibc). The installation command for CentOS is: yum install glibc.i686.

Hi Sanjeev,

my honorable request you,

Can you please tell me clearly steps wise. what are the steps I have to follow ,

Really I am confusing with this ,

Ex: MR.JOHN is working from home from his personal Laptop , now he want to install MIDSERVER in his client project so now where he want to go , where I have to download --if I download WINDOWS 64bit files it will be downloaded in our LAPTOP right?       in this way am facing confusion

this is my confusion here

I think, what you are trying to say is, John is working from home and doesnt have access to Client Network. And he wants to install MID Server to a Client Server? You can install the MID Server onbehalf him on the client server. installing MID Server on personal laptops doesnt make sense.

It should be installed on a Client VM Server. Check the below link to understand why you need a mid server

So we have to install it in Client VM
