How to test notifications for a ServiceNow to Microsoft Teams integration without a Teams dev env?

Hi all,

I'm working on a ServiceNow to Microsoft Teams integration and I am a bit confused about notifications. This integration is new to me and I'm getting a lot of questions about notifications. The integration is from a ServiceNow dev environment to a customer's Microsoft Teams prod environment.

My research into notifications has lead me to provider notifications. I see there are events that fire some OOB notifications being triggered, but the notifications are not going to Teams.

If I go to Channels and Integrations -> Microsoft Teams -> Manage -> General -> Settings
I can see that there is a "Enable notification for all users" option that is set to false.

If I go to Channels and Integrations -> Microsoft Teams -> Manage -> Virtual Agent -> Settings

I can see that "Web client notifications" option is set to false.

Based upon my understanding, the "Enable notification for all users" option is for the Teams channel. "Web client notifications" is about notifications through the Virtual Agent. The Teams channel would receive notifications like assignment group notifications, and the web client notification is for stuff like direct assignments or approvals.

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong!

The main question I have is: is there a way to test these notifications? I'm not going to enable notifications for all users or web client notifications until I understand their impact on the Teams prod environment. I don't want users to start receiving notifications from dev.

Is there a way to activate notifications so that I can test them and not have them sent to different users? The best idea I've had is to turn off all of the provider notifications except one that has me as a condition. Probably a bad idea.

Can anyone provide guidance for me on this please?

Thanks!
