How to turn defects / enhancements tasks on

Hi ServiceNow Community Developers,

Is there a way to turn on the enhancements and defects task? What we are looking for here is something similar to problem tasks which is currently available as a plugin that you just activate and the problem tasks related list is just there. Does ServiceNow provide something like that for defects /enhancements or this is something that one may have to create from scratch. Please advise.

In addition to the above, you can have Defects in Project related to requirements, etc.   Also, Fuji has significantly enhanced the Test functionality in Fuji which includes defects Test Management - ServiceNow Wiki.

What specifically were you looking to do with defects? Were you looking to relate defects to requirements in SDLC or Project? Were you looking to tag Incidents as Defects?

Hi Kelly,

Basically what I was looking for is something like problem tasks in the problem module or scrum tasks in the stories module in SDLC (Scrum process). In other words each problem record can have problem tasks associated with it or each story can have scrum tasks that one has to complete in order to complete a story assigned to him/her. I was wondering if there is something similar with enhancement / defect whereby if an enhancement is assigned to you, you then create tasks that you are required to complete in order to accomplish that enhancement request.

First confirming when you say Enhancement - are you are referring to using an Enhancement ENHC record within SDLC, or a general term for enhancement (which is often a Service Catalog request REQ for an 'Enhancement')?

If the former... With Enhancement (ENHC within SDLC) you typically create stories and then tasks under the stories, and you tie it all to a Product. Ours is set up to have defects related to tasks that are related to stories that are related to an Enhancement. So yes you can create an ENHC Enhancement, I'm assuming you could do tasks against the Enhancement instead of at the story level. If you're not using stories though you may just want to use Project and have tasks for a project and defects at the project level, task level, requirement level, etc.

If you're referring to the latter... you could have an enhancement request REQ form with tasks to fulfill it (but these tasks are typically prepopulated with workflow), and I'm guessing have Defects related to those tasks for that REQ. You could also use Demand DMND and have that convert to an ENHC and create tasks against that.

Lots of options, if I'm understanding your question correctly.

Thanks Kelly, yes I was referring to ENHC within SDLC. Actually that is exactly what we are doing to, we run a UI Action to create stories from defect / enhancement and then we have scrum task under stories. I guess we are using it the right way then. I thought there was a way to create enhancement tasks for each enhancement just like there is a way to create problem tasks for each problem.

Johannes Mweli - yes I believe you can set up SN to be able to create tasks under an Enhancement ENHC.
