How to validate the auto population of variables in portal

Hi
i have a question regarding auto populate feature on record producer variable.
my concern is ;
I was auto populating the values based on logged in user on the variable itself,
when I am trying to change the username variable the values which are populating through variable auto populate. The values are not clearing using auto populate feature .
any other suggestions what I am configuring wrong.

@Jace Benson Using variable auto populate oob feature . Created a reference variable on the table and used the variable to auto populate.the variable I am referring is requested_for. It’s the duplicate of logged in user and variable is hidden . If I change requested_for the values are not clearing same values are remaining.getting error

Are you using a custom variable and mapping it or using the actual requested for variable? If you could recreate this is a update set and share it I'll look, otherwise can you share the screenshot the variables and record producer configuration.
