Is it possible to create custom components in ServiceNow IDE?

Hi community!

Since the new ServiceNow IDE is in place I was wondering if there still is a need to install the ServiceNow CLI and Node.js on my computer when I want to write code for a custom component. (develop component from the docs)

Are there any plans to get rid of the CLI and is it already possible to develop components directly inside the ServiceNow IDE?

Thanks!

Yes—you still need Node.js and the ServiceNow CLI to develop custom Now Experience/UI Builder components; the new ServiceNow IDE doesn’t yet support full component scaffolding/build/deploy, and there’s no announced plan to retire the CLI.

Mark this helpful if it answers your doubt.

Even if there seem to be no plans of retiring the CLI I think they've come far enough to be able to achieve this in the near future. I really hope this will come and that I'll be able to do all the component stuff inside the IDE.
