If you're a customer, use a sub-prod instance.

If you work with a partner, use one of the partner instances.

There is no solution for independent consultants.  Full stop.

In case this is helpful, wanted to let you know that ServiceNow has now added the capability of installing store apps on Developer instances. You can see what that process looks like here:  http://www.john-james-andersen.com/blog/service-now/installing-servicenow-store-apps-from-a-develope...

EDIT:  You can now, but its not via the traditional request process.
You can't request.  The vendor must push.  Been hearing that several vendors don't know how that's done, so I made a video about it.

Hi Robert,

That's great news! But what if the app vendor is ServiceNow?

I ran into this issue as I was trying to install the "ServiceNow Remote Instance Spoke" in PDI, with no luck.

No idea to be honest.  I think the best bet is to ask your Sales Rep to hunt the info down for you.
