Hi everyone,
I recently passed both the CSA and CAD exams. I’ve been applying for ServiceNow-related jobs here in the Philippines, but so far I haven’t had much luck getting into the field.
Because of that, I’m thinking of taking around two months off from job hunting and focusing on building my skills instead. The path I’m considering is becoming an ITSM Developer, since I’ve noticed that many ServiceNow job postings here are focused on ITSM, ITOM, CSM, and CRM.
Can I ask what roadmap you would recommend for someone trying to become job-ready for an ITSM Developer role?
For my first week, I’m planning to complete the relevant ITSM courses in Now Learning. I’m fairly familiar with ITSM as a concept, but I’m still unsure about how to actually implement and customize it in ServiceNow.
One of my biggest skill gaps right now is JavaScript, so after the courses I’m planning to build small projects that focus more on scripting, especially Business Rules, Script Includes, GlideRecord, and other areas where coding is needed.
After that, I’m not really sure what I should focus on next.
I’d really appreciate any advice on what topics, projects, or learning path would help me become more prepared for an ITSM Developer role and eventually land my first ServiceNow job.
Thank you!

Congratulations on passing both CSA and CAD! Your plan is solid. After the ITSM courses and JavaScript fundamentals, focus on hands-on development: Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Script Includes, GlideRecord, Flow Designer, ACLs, notifications, and integrations (REST/SOAP). Build 2–3 realistic portfolio projects such as an Incident/Change management customization, an automated approval workflow, and a small REST integration. Document your projects and publish them on GitHub/your portfolio. Most importantly, practice solving real business requirements rather than only following tutorials that will help bridge the gap between certifications and being job-ready.

Hi, thank you for the response.
At the moment, I don’t have any real-world ServiceNow experience yet. Most of my learning has come from Now Learning, and I also use AI to help me simulate real-world scenarios and practice.
Can I ask what kinds of tasks or scenarios an ITSM Developer typically works on day to day? For example, what types of requests, customizations, or problems do developers usually handle in a real company environment?
