Make changes to widget my active items in employee center portal?

I want to make few changes in my active items widget

1. i need to replace tasks with requests on the widget

2. rename the requests to tasks

I have a personal hate for how that Widget is rendered, it looks simply awful. Every user looks at the OOTB design and says 'really!'
