Making A Reference Field Mandatory

Hello guys,

I am working on the HR profile page, trying to make the employee number field mandatory. The employee number field is a reference field to the sys_user table. I created a UI policy to make the employee number field on the HR profile page mandatory. The UI policy is triggered but it doesn't make the field mandatory. I tried creating a UI policy on the sys_user table and that policy doesn't trigger (probably because I'm on the HR profile page). Lastly, I right clicked the employee number field, then configure dictionary, and finally clicked on the mandatory check box. This last option puts an asterisk next to the employee number but I can still update the form with an empty employee number. I'm trying to do is without writing code if possible to avoid unnecessary customization . Thanks!

Hi @Noone1234567 ,

Please double check if you've created an UI policy action or not, and could you please share the screenshot of the UI policy that you've configured

Thanks!

I have created a UI policy and an action to make employee number mandatory but it doesn't do anything. I have also tried setting the field to mandatory in the dictionary table. See screenshots below

Hi @Noone1234567 ,

From my point of view or my recommendation, I would forget about the UI Policy, and instead just go to the dictionary and make the field mandatory on the hr_case. As far as I can read from your description, then it should be mandatory every time.
