Nested groups

Hi everyone 🙂

Is there a way to add a group to a group? I looked up nested groups and parent child groups but it looks like it only shares the roles. I would like to do the following:

I have a group and in that group I would like to add all the members of our Service Desk and a few select users. I don't want to add the Service Desk users manually as I would always have to maintain it then.

Regards

Thereza

@Thereza Van der Unfortunately, there is no out of the box way to add group members of one group to another group on a click of a button. However, you can write a script and run it to quickly add members of one group to another group.

So if you have Group A and Group B and make Group B a child of Group A then all of the people in Group B will look like they are in Group A.  They will inherit the roles from Group A and when you do a "Group is One Of My Groups" query the users in Group B will have Group A listed as one of there groups. So that means anything assigned to Group A will show up for users in Group B if you do the query right.

Not sure thats what you are looking for since you did not give much detail on your end goal.

Only our Service Desk and the incident manager can make an incident P1 or P2. So I created a group for that and I want to add the Incident Manager and all Service Desk members in the new group. This group is used in my client script that specifies that only they an promote an incident to P1 or P2. The urgency and impact is hidden for all other users so they can only create a P3 incident. Not sure if that makes sense?

you can create a new group for the "few users" and make that group the parent of the "Service Desk" group.
