OOTB Catalog Items are not editable

Hello All,

 

Some Catalog Items are not editable, what's the use of these Items and why they created?

Catalog Item Names:

1. Catalog Variable Creation
2. Catalog UI Policy
3. Catalog Item Builder
4. Record Producer Builder
5. Service Fulfillment Steps - Base step
6. Service Fulfillment Steps - Task step
7. Service Fulfillment Steps - Custom approval step

Please help me on this. or provide any documentation link about those items.

Catalog Items that are not editable usually serve as foundational or system-level components. They are integral to the functionality of the catalog and fulfill specific roles that should not be modified to ensure the stability and consistency of the system.

These catalog items are foundational components of the ServiceNow system that provide standardization, consistency, and reliability in various processes, such as variable creation, UI policy management, catalog item and record producer creation, and service fulfillment. They are designed to be non-editable to prevent inadvertent changes that could affect the overall functionality and integrity of the ServiceNow environment. If modifications are needed, they should be approached with caution and typically involve extending or customizing functionality in a way that does not compromise the core system.

those are read-only from platform level hence you cannot edit those.
