“Options” label showing automatically in Catalog Item (Container + Checkbox)

Hi Team,

I am working on a Catalog Item in ServiceNow and I have used Container Start, Container Split, and Container End to group multiple checkbox variables.

I have set the Container Start label as  Security Group, but in the Service Portal/UI, it is still showing an additional label “Options” above the checkboxes.

I did not configure “Options” anywhere in my variables.

Current setup:

  • Container Start → Question: Security Group

  • Multiple Checkbox variables inside

  • Container Split for layout

Issue:

  • The UI displays:
    Options
    [ ]A
    [ ] B
    etc.

Questions:

  1. Why is the “Options” label appearing automatically?

  2. Is this default behavior in Service Portal?

  3. Is there a way to remove or override this label?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you!

NO, it is not OOTB.

Check OOTB  variable.

Hi @aparnaravi

As per SN Doc - "If you want to define a custom label for the group of check boxes, create a label variable at the start of the consecutive check box variables. The label is then considered a part of this group and acts a label of the group. If there is no custom label, check boxes are grouped under an Options label by the application."

To customize the label displayed above checkbox variables, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Catalog Item or Record Producer.
  2. Add a new Label variable.
  3. Place the Label variable directly above the checkbox variable using the Order number
  4. Set the Label variable’s text to the desired heading (for example, Select applicable options).
  5. Save the record.

The custom label will now display instead of the default Options text.
