Phone Number (E164) field in Portal

Added a new field to my table of type Phone Number (E164), but after adding it to my form, the format selector box doesn't show up on the Portal page. The field is there, but not the selector. Is this another one of those "Not supported in Service Portal" instances?

Problem is this is pure portal. On the UI side, this field is present just by adding the field to the form:
It allows you to select the country format for the phone number. This is not present in the portal view. This article is referring to a Catalog Item. I don't think it really relates to portal.
