Populate parent field on related table???

Hi,

I am working on a solution where I have a custom BA case management table and I need a related BA task table, where the assignee of the case can create related tasks and assign them out as required.

I have created both M2M relation however the related records show the parent field as empty. What is the best way to auto populate the parent record on this field?

If the related list is using the Parent as the query, pressing new should auto populate the parent field.  Some times you may have multiple tables able to associate with different verify you don't have another table to select as a related table.  

Also include a screenshot of ba task parent in the table config.  To verify it's referencing the proper table.
