"ERR_INSUFFICIENT_RESOURCES" with Reference fields on catalog items in Service Portal

We have some reference fields that are behaving strangely in the Service Portal. they appear to be hanging after a few seconds. When we bring up the console to see what's going on, we get the error listed below.

These fields work fine from within   ServiceNow's main interface (and on our CMS pages). What's more, the behavior is somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes the reference fields appear to work fine.

Has anyone else run into this?   nathanfirth is this common, or is it something we've done?

It seems to be a known issue with reference fields on Order Guides. The workaround we were given by Hi was to basically use an iframe to load the CMS version of the order guide renderer. We weren't real happy with that because the iframe breaks the responsiveness of the page. I don't know if that's the best solution.

Yeah this is a known issue. I've been waiting to see if the Service Portal team is going to fix this, but if not we've been playing around with writing our own version of the order guides widget that behaves closer to the tabbed version. will.leingang do you have any feedback on when this might get resolved?

This is a bug in Helsinki with order guides with lots of variables. The issue is that the variables are all sent to the server in a get request and the request can get too long. It's been fixed in Istanbul but I'm not sure if it's made it to a Helsinki Patch yet. Please open an incident and Support can provide additional info.
