"Last Assigned to User" field greyed out on on hardware records

Hello, on hardware records on the "General" tab I entered a user name on the "Assigned To" field and saved the record. Next, I clicked on the "Asset history" tab and expected that the "Last Assigned to User" field would populate, but it is greyed out. Do you know why the "Last Assigned to User" field did not update when I entered a name in the "Assigned To" field? Thank you.

Hi @DeIvory Gordon ,
"Last Assigned to User" is it a custom field and is there any custom Business Rule or Flow written to get the "Assigned To" value and store in that field?
If yes, then check the Business Rule or Flow written on it.

is that Last Assigned to User a OOB field or custom?
If custom then do you have any logic on update of this field to go and update the same record?
