In my Record Producer, there are variables called as request type and request subtype. I have created them manually, when I am saving the record, those fields are not getting mapped to the request and request sub type field in backend table.
However there is already present variable set, in which there are both fields u_request_type and u_request_subtype, and the field names are also same to these names in the `backend table. They are getting automatically mapped even there is no map to field option is used in that.
How is it possible?

If record producer variable name is same as your target column name, then system will automatically map them to your target column. Both field map and variable name can be used to map value to target table.

Hi @garimakharb
The reason yours aren't picking it up is almost certainly the variable name. The auto match is on the internal name, not the label, so a variable labelled Request Type is usually named request_type unless you changed it. Your column is u_request_subtype, so the variable has to be named u_request_subtype too, prefix included.
Open both your variables and compare the Name field against the column name letter for letter. If they don't match, either rename them or set Map to field on each one and pick the column
Thanks

Hi @garimakharb
As per KB "The system is functioning as designed. A variable set can be attached to any record producer that creates records in any table, so mapping a variable in a variable set to a specific field is not possible. The mapping that takes place between a variable and a field in a table takes place if the variable name matches a field name in the table."

Hey @garimakharb
ServiceNow can automatically map a Record Producer variable when the variable Name exactly matches the target table field name.
For example:
u_request_type → u_request_type
So the variable set works without using Map to field.
If your manually created variable is named request_type while the backend field is u_request_type, it will not map automatically. In that case, you need explicit mapping or a script.
