Refresh variables in Flow Designer

I have a catalog item with 10-15 variables with values assigned automatically via Flow Designer and everything is working as expected. Then the business decides to add another variable; is there any way to refresh the available variables in Flow Designer without losing all the data mapping done up to that point? If they decide to change anything else (add/remove/relocate) a variable I'll have to repeat the whole process over again.

Tim, did you ever get a solution for this? I'm having the same issue: setting 20+ variables in a catalog item. I don't want to drop and re-add the action in order to pick up the new variables....
