Related list

I have added three related lists on the User form, and the changes have been captured in the update set. However, the update set is also capturing all other related list.

The concern is that there is a related list currently available in Production that is not present in Dev or Test. If I migrate the update set as-is, there is a possibility that the existing related list in Production could be removed or overwritten.

As a safer approach, can we manually add only the new OOB related lists directly in Production instead of moving the entire related list configuration through the update set?

What would be the best approach to ensure the new related lists are added without impacting the other existing related lists in Production?

Hi @sonimore101

It simply enables the related list on the form, and you can do this directly in production. It isn't really a configuration change; you're just enabling the related list.

Hi @sonimore101 ,

Yes, as @Dr Atul G- LNG  mentioned, this can be done directly in Production. Since it is only a related list configuration, manually adding the new related lists in Production would be the safer approach and would help avoid any unintended impact on the existing related list configuration.

@sonimore101

how is this possible -> related list available in PROD but not in DEV/TEST?

Did someone directly created it in PROD? If yes then not a good practice

review the update set, remove anything you don’t want to migrate, and only keep the new related lists.

Hi @sonimore101,

The PROD configs should be present in DEV/Test environment. Otherwise it is a technical debt to future stakeholders. Have that related list XML (Relationship record) added in DEV and Test environment and capture your Related list config in an update set.
