I'm wondering what roles are required to update work notes/state fields on the incident table via REST API. I wasn't able to update these two fields unless I added the ITIL role to my user. Is this required? Any other work arounds?

Hi @Randy33
You need ITIL role if you haven't configured any custom ACL with any other role/script/condition to be able to update them.

Hi @Randy33 ,
Please check if there are field ( work notes and state ) level ACL define bind with itil role. You can creat new ACL ( write ) for work notes update and bind with the same role assigned to service account used by REST API.
