Restrict Delegation for Specific Approval Types Only

Hi,

Need help related to Approval Delegation and would appreciate your guidance on the best approach.

Current Behavior

  • Users can configure delegates using the User Delegates (sys_user_delegate) table.
  • When an approval is generated, ServiceNow checks the delegate configuration and routes the approval accordingly.

But for some approvals

  • (identified by Request Sourceable = true):
    • If the configured delegate has a lower job level than the original approver, the approval must not route to the delegate.
    • Instead, the approval should remain with the original approver.
    • If the delegate is at the same or higher job level, delegation should continue as normal.

Thanks

Hello @wefw

Before Suggesting an approach, I wanted to to check whether "Request Sourceable" and "Job level" fields exist in my PDI. So, I ran a dictionary scan.
I didn't find Request Sourceable field anywhere in sys_dictionary.
Job level field ---> There are no matches on the sys_user table. The only matches are on HR Tables. sn_hr_core_job_profile.job_level_id, sn_hr_integrations_job_profile.job_level_id  both are string fields.
SO, i beleive both of those fields that you are talking about are custom fields. if you can let me know where they live. I can put together a tested Approach

Hi Raghavendra,

job level is a custom field but sourceable is OOTB. its created by admin. maybe it activated for procurement i guess
