On the incident form, category should be filled, if a word is present in the short description. Kindly help.

You could do this in a before Business rule. You can do it all without scripting. Set your Business rule up like the pictures. Make sure it happens on Insert, replace "Your Word" with the value you want to check for in the Short Description, and replace the category from "other" to the one you want to set.
