Selceted a different approver according to approver availability on catalog request (workflow)

Good day Experts,

May any one provide me with direction on this task.

The customer is looking for a way to use a reference to users who are managers on the sys_user table to select to an approver for a request. Sometimes the default manager listed on the user account (${requested_for.manager}) is not available.

have a reference variable and auto populate it with logged in user's manager and make it readonly

if the logged in user doesn't have a manager then allow selecting the user

In this way you ensure that the variable always has some value and your approval works and your email content works fine.
