I'm trying to create repeating section on the portal page. My idea is to duplicate the current page and modify it by making some variable sets repeat multiple times.

Please remember then good practice when working on SP is to copy the existing page/widget and then modify the copied version and replace it on page rather them modifying the out of box portal pages or widgets. This I approach is making upgrades easier and not loosing the out of box original setup.
