ServiceNow Guided Tour Designer not working for Standard UI in San Diego  - ServiceNow page reloads out of guided tour designer as soon as we try to create a guided tour for standard UI

Hello!

I had this same problem. I figured out that my newly refreshed dev instance has the Next Experience UI enabled, by default, which interferes with Guided Tours.

Pulled from the Guided Tours documentation for San Diego

"Important:Guided Tour Designer is not supported in Next Experience. If you turn on Next ExperienceGuided Tour Designer functionality will no longer work. See Next Experience. The Guided Tour Designer is only available in UI16. The designer is not compatible with UI15. For information about how to activate the UI16 plugin, see Activate UI16"

The Fix

Type sys_properties.list in the navigator.

Search for glide.ui.polaris.experience, by Name.

Change the 'Value' to false, then click 'Update'.

Try the Guided Tour Designer again.

 

I did this just before writing this reply and it worked perfectly. The down side is you don't get that new UI design, but that's the trade-off!
