ServiceNow Rapid7 Integration to synchronize data between InsightVM and the ServiceNow CMDB

Hey Team,

I wanted to check if anyone has experience using the ServiceNow Rapid7 SGC or Rapid7 InsightVM CMDB Integration connector to synchronize data between InsightVM and the ServiceNow CMDB, please? We are encountering some urgent challenges that need to be resolved.

Challenges:
ServiceNow Rapid7 Service Graph Connector: A large dataset is being created as unclassified hardware.
InsightVM CMDB Integration: The jobs are not completing at all, and it's impacting instance performance.

Hello Nayan.

Seems you went farther than me, and I have an issue that credentials for InsightVM Configuration doesn't works in ServiceNow's side, but yes in the host where I've it installed (by browser). Could you confirm if is needed any particular configuration in the MID Server? or is needed to install Rapid7 agent on MIDServer's host or anything like this?

Hi Nayan,

I too performed the same rapid7 installation. For me like 20k+ CI class was created under Unclassed hardware and IP Address and job was completed.

My question is how only this class are mapped what about other class and how we change those setups. If you any idea in that let me know?

We ran into this with out Rapid7 set up (although not the SGC).  If there is nothing in the data to connect it to existing CIs, depending on the level of data supplied by R7, it will either end up in the Unclassed or Incomplete IP tables.  This other post help with generally resolving this :

For those we could not reconcile we ended up creating a business rule to pull the source_data field into the description field, as often this had key tags that would help us better sort this data (such as a DMZ tag put on by our R7 team).
