Show custom field in global search

How can I add custom field (u_employee_id) to the Global search? My thought is, if the user is searching on Employee ID in the global search, it should produce results for incidents.

I've not done this before, but possibly the 'Search Result Display Configurations' module might relate to your requirement?

To create on the 'Search Result Display Configurations' table, need the 'maint' role. I'll have to contact HI Support for this. Thanks.
