just found out that there’s this particular chrome extension. Its basically for developers and admins. I watched a videos of it and It’s pretty amazinggggg. I just want to know if its safe to use company instances? I mean security wise. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Hi Nagesh,

It is similar to developer tools of the browser but more specific to ServiceNow. This exentsions is mainly to be used by developers to debug any script/widget or check the value of a field. I see many developers are using this in their companies.

Hi there,

Is it safe? If I see someone with admin rights NOT using SNUtils, then I know enough about the level of that person, the efficiency of that person, etcetera...

If I face a new customer, where I'm working on a customer laptop without access to install browser plugins, I immediately call the Service Desk to install the browser plugin.

Definitely use it!

Is it safe? Haven't found or experienced any negatives about this. Haven't heard anyone else with negatives about this. Haven't had a security team from customers finding anything on this.

If my answer helped you in any way, please then mark it as helpful.

Kind regards,
Mark

I'm pretty sure the author of the plugin is an employee of ServiceNow, but maintains SN Utils as a personal project. That makes me think that he's a good steward of the platform, its users, and its users' data.

If you'd like to dig in yourself, it is all available on GitHub: https://github.com/arnoudkooi/ServiceNow-Utils

@Tim Deniston Yes, Arnoud Kooi is an employee of ServiceNow and does so much for the community with this plug-in. If you have requests of him, he is quick to work on the issues you are facing or improvements you would suggest for the plug-in.

He is a very good steward of this tool and the platform, its users, and their data. It is available on Firefox, Chrome, and Edge.
