When deploying SAM (Software Asset Management) Module , the best approach is to focus , for the first phase of the implementation , on products from the top three publishers , and then extend the scope , gradually , to remaining publishers , in the next implementation phases .

How to filter the SAM reports on only the products of my top three publishers (or a specific scope of publishers)?

There is, actually, a very useful, capability that can filter the reports on the specific scope of products .

When you go to All > Software Asset Workspace > License operations.

And select Published products from SAM Implementation

You will have the following message :

What you need to is , as mentioned , to set the property “com.snc.samp.manage.published.products” to true .

Go to sys_properties table and look for the property :

Change the value to “true” .

Now if you go back to License operations > Published products

You will see that the “Add” button is now visible :

Now you can add the specific products identified in you current implementation phase of SAM

In all SAM workspace reports you will see that reports are now based on your specific scope of products , “Published status” filter is now visible :

You can filter the reports on “Published” or “Unpublished” products :

Ir the product is part of a suite , you will have the following information box :

You will need to add the parent software as well , to be published .

When your SAM implementation is finished, you will need to remove the published products and set back the property to false .
