String field with 4000 characters only saves 100

I have a string field with 4000 characters but on save only saves 100 characters. what would be restricting this?

Can you check if this is happening for any of the OOTB Fields which have length as 4000?

You can check OOTB Description field

I tried to create a new field and it is doing the same. On the form I have a bunch of custom fields that are created a while ago and those seem to be working and OOB. Not sure what is causing this. Any version upgrades?

If this issue is happening with one specific field and as you confirmed, you don't have any client scripts/ui policies/business rules configured, please raise the case with Servicenow,

Yes, it sounds like some database field mismatch. you need to create a Support Case so the assigned TSE can review and repair. Only certain TSEs can access the instance database, however your Case will be assigned to one of those TSE.
