The task_editor role in ServiceNow is a foundational, legacy role that grants users broad, direct edit access to records across the task table, including protected fields, without requiring more specific, higher-level roles. It is often used to efficiently provide editing capabilities for tasks (e.g., incident, change, request tasks) or for integration scenarios.

The task_editor role is not directly tied to a license itself.  Instead of creating all of the necessary ACLs under a role, for instance, rm_task_admin, they simply use task_editor to inherit from.
