Testing reference field form selections in ATF?

I'm looking to validate a field which its selections are dependent on another field on an Incident form.

For example, the Assigned to person can depend on which Assignment group is picked. Is there a way to validate this filtering?

To note, I know we can validate the reference qualifier on the field (at the dictionary level), but I was hoping to validate the field by placing an assignment group and then clicking the magnifier glass to see my assignment group member selections.

Have you tried setting the value in Assignment group, in a separate step setting the Assigned to group, and finally using a Field Values Validation?

For me, I am looking for a visual querying experience of looking for the assigned to members based on the filtering of the assignment group. 

But your comment would be an accurate way systematically to complete my question.
