The purpose of "Activity Due" on the Task Table

Hello Gurus,
could anyone please explain the purpose of the Activity Due field on the Task table/form? I have not been able to find any documentation on it..

In my system it currently isn't implemented and is returning unknown. If I were to use this field, I would set it in the workflow.

I don't know for sure, but that only reinforces the taboo of field hijacking. If you have a business requirement to track a date time, purpose build a field for it.

I've always wondered if it has anything to do with Workflow Activity in particular, but never really researched.

This field is used in conjunction with Inactivity Monitors (although it's not specifically mentioned in the documentation)
