Trying to undo-changes done (complete update set) in DEV ... BACKOUT not working.

I just did a lot of changes while trying out something. All kept in one update set.

After I found out that I would make more sense to just "undo" all changes, I went to the update set - set it to complete - and then used the backout UI action.

The result is, that nothing was backed out ... all entries show: "The change was not backed out because changes were made to the record after the update set was committed. You can still revert to a particular version from the record"

I there an easy way of undoing what I did ...?

Thank you!!

HI Vemffm,

From what you say, that you set the update set as Complete - I assume - after the changes? Do you mean you did not apply your update set in other instance (e.g. production) you only want to revert changes you made in the same (non-prod) instance where you created the update set?

Because this case it may make sense that back out did not work.

Thanks for clarifying.

Best, A.

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply.

Yes exactly. This is what I tried to do.

Why transporting things I need to be out of the system ... 😉

For me it makes no sense if this would be not possible ...

Any help to solve this?

Hello,

This case what you can try in your test (non-production) environment if this is what you want to achieve:

1) go to your update set and order the updates list by Updated column to have the most recently done update on the top and open up the most recent.

you will need to repeat the same steps walking through of every customer update you have done in the update set.

2) in the customer update click show related record which presents you the record you updated

find_real_file.png

3) if you don't have the "versions" related list added to the given record to see its update history, you can add it by configuring your form layout

find_real_file.png

4) Now you should see the versions list added to the record which captures the "current" version and the previous ones.

Here you can select which you want to revert to. Open that one up.

find_real_file.png

5) Click revert to this version link.

These steps 1-5 should be repeated the for all the customer updates in your update set you would want to revert.

Please let me know if this fits what you need.

Best regards

A.

Thanks for your effort!!!

Unfortunately there is not former version. Just the current. No idea why. But if I go to the records manually I find them and can do as suggested.

I just checked in my personal instance and did exactly the same ... just less updates ... but set to complete and backout ... and it worked fine without any problem. Developer is on Istanbul ... and the instance I have trouble with is on Helsinki patch 8 ... .

Really no idea why this can not be backed out. No other updateset did touch the changes made.

And why the version field is empty for the updates done is unclear to me.

Anyhow. BIG THANK YOU!
