Turn of Notifications for certain users

Is there any easy way to run off notification for certain users?   We need to turn off all notification going forward weather they have received them or not so turning them off in the my profile section would not work.

I'm not sure if this is the right or best answer but.....could you disable their Notification Devices? I would assume that if there is no device for the system to send a notification to then they wouldn't get any more.

Are you talking about Notification Preferences?   I was trying to avoid that as this only allows me to turn off notification they have received.

disabling the notification field on the user record will stop the mails from being sent .....

There you go, just set it to None.
