Unable to edit location field in user record

Hi,

I would like to have some assistance in correcting user table data. The Location field in the user record is not updated correctly and when I tried to correct it, I could not find any information from location table.

The Location field in the user record is a reference field but when I click on the search glass of "Location" field it shows nothing as if no mapping is done between user and location tables.

Is there a way to link location table to the location field in the user record? Also how to check whether the location table is correctly linked to the location field of the user table?

Thanks,

Dibeena

Hi Dibeena,

Right click on the Location field label and select "Configure Dictionary". Check the Reference section to ensure that you are pointing to the location (cmn_location) table. Also take a look and make sure there are no reference qualifiers (i.e. filters) on the records being displayed.

It should look something like this:

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for your reply.

I had a check and the dictionary looks exactly the same as described by you.

I will explain you a little more on the issue.

We have five user accounts whose location is same say " Melbourne". These user accounts have different location ID, so 5 locations were created with the same name but different location IDs. These locations wer suppose to link to the user record with same location ID. Few user accounts with this scenario got incorrectly mapped. I thought of manually correcting the location by choosing it from the location table, but when I clicked on the search glass of the location field it opened a window with no records.

Will you be bale to help me in fixing this?

Hi   Dibeena,

Do all users have an issue changing the location field? In other words, have you tried this with a user who has a known good location? Does the magnifying glass have this issue for all users or only the ones with the incorrect locations?

Hi Chuck,

This issue is only with the user accounts created by Integrating with Active Directory. The users created manually in servicenow does not have any issue. I am little new to servicenow and am unable to find the condition which maps the location in user table to the location table.

Thanks,
