Hi,
In a Playbook, I’m using a User Form Activity to show Task fields so agents can update the record directly from playbook.
Questions:
1. If the agent sets the Task State = Closed from the User Form, should the playbook activity auto-complete, or must they still click Mark Complete?
2. Why are the task fields visible only after clicking Update / Mark Complete?
Shouldn’t the playbook activity load with fields visible by default?
Want to confirm if this is expected behavior or if I’m missing some configuration.
Appreciate your Response.
TIA.

1. If the agent sets Task State = Closed, should the Playbook activity auto-complete?
No. Closing the Task from the User Form does not auto-complete the Playbook activity. The agent must still click Mark Complete. This is expected behavior — Playbooks intentionally separate record updates from activity completion.
2. Why are the fields only visible/editable after clicking Update / Mark Complete?
Because the User Form activity loads in a read/preview state by design. Fields become editable only after the agent clicks Update (or Mark Complete) to clearly indicate intent and prevent accidental changes.
Both behaviors are basically expected, and no additional configuration is missing.

Mark Complete -> is used to complete that activity and move forward and not to close the task itself
When you click Update the form gets saved and it gets reloaded and the field visibility will be controlled by Client scripts or UI policies
You can have a separate Playbook button (action assignment) which actually closes the task
see the OOTB server side buttons and create accordingly
