When a user leaves a SN page open on their computer overnight, they are logged out after X amount of time, leaving their existing pages all on the "Logout successful" page. When they successfully log back in, either on a new page or on one of the existing pages, they can no longer easily return to the pages they were on. The browser back button and a page refresh both take them to their homepage regardless of what page they had been on.
This is extremely frustrating as users often have multiple pages open at a time and now have to navigate back to their pages individually either via the SN History tab or their browser history.
Is this expected behavior? If not, what can be do to fix it? If it is expected, what options are their to alleviate some of the pain?

It is expected behavior, to avoid the auto-logout have your users add an "auto-refresh" extension to their browser to prevent the auto-logout. But then there are security aspects to consider.
