Validate Variables values test step not working

I want to verify that a given variable on the catalog form is not empty. 
Added the test step 'Validate Variables Values'  . Then selected the catalog condition as Requestor Data Cost Center is not empty.

But the above is not working after i run the script. Screenshot attached for the error.

As per your screenshot, the test is interrupted by an error on the client side caused.

Please refer to the following KB and try to put it in the exception if required.
