Outside of the URL and the global search, the rest of the pages' visual cue that they are highlighted/selected cannot be seen.

The response I received from HI support was the following:

"Solution Proposed:
This chrome-related issue is marked as the problem PRB1763883.

The issue is fixed in Washington DC Patch 9 and Xanadu and available for upgrade. Please upgrade your instance to Washington DC Patch 9 or Xanadu to fix this issue"

Yes, we were told that. But when pressed for a hotfix since patch 9 was delayed until December, a new problem was opened, and we were told that the v131 issues WERE NOT fixed by patch 9 (the original problem was related to something Chromium v121). We have asked for clarification as this information is conflicting.

This KB has an UI fix script, so I'm asking our team if they want to see if this fixes things.
Not able to highlight text in Forms using Chromium and Microsoft Edge version 131 - Known Error

Hi all - here's an update:
The issue is related to a planned change in selection inheritance for CSS properties. https://developer.chrome.com/blog/selection-styling

This version of Chromium which powers many browsers like Edge and Chrome (v. 131.x) became standard 11/12/24. https://chromiumdash.appspot.com/schedule Chrome, Edge, and other browsers are already rolling it out to customers. We cannot delay these updates to the browser as they expose companies to the latest security issues that the browser updates fix.

Google Chrome did the early stable release last week, and this week it should start rolling out to everyone else. https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2024/11/early-stable-update-for-desktop.html
Microsoft Edge is also rolling out v131 as the stable release this week. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-release-schedule

This only seems to be an issue in the “backend user” application (Next Experience and U16) but not workspaces and portals.

ServiceNow dev team stated that PRB1821949 was confirmed as a duplicate of the below PRB.
PRB1723262 : Not able to highlight text in doctype pages using Google Chrome V 121.0.6167.8 (not a stable Chrome version yet). We were told it would be fixed in Washington DC Patch 9 and Xanadu Release (Upgrade starting 2024-12-05). They said they would not provide a hotfix as v131 is not the stable release of Chromium.

After providing the above details, PRB1821949 regarding the issue with text highlighting in ServiceNow after the latest Microsoft Edge Beta upgrade (version 131.0.2903.9, Official Build, beta channel, 64-bit). They are currently investigating this, but it has not yet been resolved in any release. The latest update today was a proposed solution for Xanadu Patch 3, Xanadu Patch 2. We rejected this solution as we are on Washington DC and request a patch for Washington DC. I’m awaiting a response.

There is a workaround to import a UI script to fix it.

Yes, we saw that, but then Now Support told us v131 issues aren't related to Patch 9 (though the KB explicitly calls it out). I've updated the case asking for clarity. We are in the process of testing out the UI Script in a non-prod environment. Our architect said the UI script is using DOM manipulation to correct highlight issue, which they tell us not to do in the instance Healthchecker, but we need a workaround until we have a patch.
