want to know working of OOTB field "duplicate of" present under "cmdb_ci"

- In "cmdb_ci" table we have OOTB filed "duplicate of", as per my understanding this field matching duplicate based on name of CIs and it also consider "retired" CIs as well. 

-  I want to change the logic of this field "duplicate of" instead of matching duplicate based on name of CIs it should match duplicate based on some custom field "number id" (number id is a numeric field)
