Hi @--oooo--,

There are various ways to populate data in ServiceNow CMDB. Some of the commonly used methods are:

  1. Manual Entry: Users can manually enter data in the CMDB through the ServiceNow UI. For example, if a new server is added to the network, an administrator can enter its details like IP address, operating system, hardware specifications, etc. in the CMDB.

  2. Discovery: ServiceNow Discovery is an automated tool that can discover and map the IT infrastructure, applications, and services in an organization. It uses various protocols like SNMP, WMI, SSH, etc. to gather information about devices and software in the network. The discovered data can be populated in the CMDB automatically.

  3. Import Sets: Import sets allow users to import data from external sources like spreadsheets, CSV files, databases, etc. The imported data can be mapped to the CMDB tables and fields to populate the CMDB.

  4. Integrations: ServiceNow can integrate with other IT systems like ITSM, asset management, network monitoring tools, etc. through APIs. The integration can help to populate the CMDB with relevant data from these systems.

I hope this helps!

Hi @--oooo-- ,

There are several ways to populate data into the CMDB.

  1. Manual data entry: Manually entering data into the CMDB through the ServiceNow UI.

  2. Discovery: Using ServiceNow Discovery to automatically discover and populate data into the CMDB.

  3. Integrations: Integrating with external tools and sources to populate data into the CMDB.

  4. Import sets: Using Import Sets to import data from CSV or Excel files into the CMDB.

  5. APIs: Using ServiceNow APIs (such as REST APIs) to programmatically populate data into the CMDB.

  6. MID Server: Using a MID Server to bridge the gap between ServiceNow and on-premises systems, allowing data to be pulled into the CMDB.
