What is the best practice on oob workspaces?

I'm curious about OOB workspaces like GRC "Compliance Workspace". 

Is there a best practice on customizing it?

Hi Everyone, thanks for the reply. I also did some research on adding custom fields. Turns out that when you add the custom field in the Workspace view it will directly reflect on the workspace itself. 

Posting this in case someone might have the same question in the future.
